Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is a banker wrongly convicted of murder and sent to Maine’s Shawshank State Prison to serve a life sentence. His determination and hope win over Ellis “Red” Redding (Morgan Freeman), also serving a life sentence, and his resourcefulness helps to bring about positive changes to the prison.
