Working Papers

In addition to published law review articles, working papers may also be useful in your research.  Working papers are available on a wide variety of topics in many different disciplines.  They are designed to provide early distribution of research results and a forum for commentary.  In the legal arena, there are two main working paper repositories: Bepress Legal Repository and the Social Science Research Network’s Legal Scholarship Network.

Bepress Legal Repository: The Bepress Legal Repository contains working papers in the field of law. You can choose to browse by subject area or institution, or you can search by keyword. You can also view the most frequently downloaded papers and sign up for working paper notifications. Although most articles are freely downloadable, some require paid subscriptions and/or registration.

Legal Scholarship Network/Social Sciences Research Network: The Legal Scholarship Network also collects working papers on law topics.  You can search by keyword or author and browse by journal or topic.  You can also view the most frequently downloaded papers and sign up for working paper notifications.  Affiliated networks cover accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, information systems, management, marketing, negotiations and social insurance.  Although most articles are freely downloadable, some require paid subscriptions and/or registration.
